I'm all set.

...and here's finished product! It's still missing my turquoise chairs but otherwise I'm pretty much set. And I'm so excited and thankful to my family who have been so supportive  and helped me move all of my stuff. I'll miss my dad, mom and little brother (and our puppy of course, oh how I'll miss our puppy!) but at the same time I feel like it's time for me to go on my own. Luckily I'm not too far from "home", it's just a few odd minutes away!
Kitchen/Livingroom/bedroom

I absolutely love my chandelier! It's my great grandmother's so I'll bring a piece of her with me as well.

Once we were done cleaning and moving the rest of my stuff I went home and had one last amazingly delicious meal with my family: Grilled lamb, fries, corn, coleslaw and champagne, couldn't have asked for a better "last meal at home" ( Don't be fooled, I'll probably be knocking on my parents door every Sunday asking to be fed. Not that I'm a bad cook but my roommate is vegan XD good thing I like my veggies!). Then we just ate and chatted, perfect family night. I love my family so much, they are the best and I know they're always there for me, no matter what!

My dad bought me some stuff to fill my kitchen cabinets with: Pasta, rice, olive oil, eggs, cheese, toilet paper, salt, sugar, flours... It's a good start!

Move.

Man, it has been a looooong day.
I love love love my little couch, it's made for this apartment!
The plan today was to move some more stuff to the apartment, but instead we ended up moving all my stuff to the apartment, even my bed! It didn't take too long though but when it's almost 30 degrees outside, you're bound to get sweaty. Lyuckily my family and Emppu helped me out, thank you very much for that! Now I just have a few more things and I'm ready to settle in. Of course my roomie has yet to bring anything and she's moving all of her stuff on Friday so I still have that to look forward too. But it's all coming together and it's all very exciting!

Tomorrow I still have to paint my chairs, clean and vacuum and move the rest of my stuff. Another busy day that is! But here in the pic below you see how it looks in a panorama pic and Emppu looking sexy as hell on my bed!

Where's the pizza?

I really don't have anything special to blog about, just thought I'd make a quick post as my SATC episode is downloading. Just had 2 days of work and now I have until Friday off, which means that the next time I go to work I will be living in my new apartment- exciting! Tons of things to do before that though! I've managed to move most of my clothes and books ect. but the next two days I will have to move all of my furniture, the rest of my things and my Queen sized bed, which will probably be the biggest challenge of them all!

Then I have to buy curtains and paint for the chairs I got from my grandma, not to mention actually paint the chairs! (Any of my friends reading this: you are very welcome to come and help me out, I'll pay you in pizza slices!)
My friends will be like...

Food & Family time

Just came back from the confirmation, we had to leave a bit early because of my brother's football practice. But when I cam home I got to see my mama for the first time in a week! And she had some cute gifts for me as well which is always a nice surprise! Now I'm just chilling with the family for the rest of the night. Love love love!

Guac & Salsa

Last night I experimented with a few recipes and they actually turned out quite good. I made homemade Guacamole and Sweet, Chunky Salsa!
For the Guacamole I used 2 ripe avocados, 1 big tomato, 1 red onion, salt and pepper and a little bit of lemon juice! Basically you just mix the ingredients together with a fork so that it's a bit chunky and let it stay in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving.

In the Salsa i used 3 tomatoes, 1 red onion, one yellow onion, 3 garlic cloves, 1 nectarine (I guess you could use peach or something similarly sweet), green Tabasco, salt, pepper, white vinegar, lemon juice and a little bit of water. I started by heating a pan and cooking the fruits and vegetables in a little bit of olive oil. Then I added the water and the white vinegar (just a little bit, like 1/2 dl at most), and the spices and let it heat on low temperature for 20-30 minutes. Lastly I topped it off with some lemon juice and let it cool down before serving.

Hot days, Long nights

So Friday was a seriously fun day, one of the best nights this summer I would say! First Kata came over to my place and we tanned for about 3 hours. Man it was hot, especially when there was zero wind, but we survived. After having lunch we drove to Kata's place and just sat on the couch for an hour or so (Suntanning is really hard, y'all!) and started getting ready. Sofia and Ansku also came over and at 8.30 they drove us to Kata's boyfriends new apartment, where he was having a housewarming party. It's a 1 bedroom apartment and with approximately 10-15 people there, you can imagine how hot it was. We mostly just sat at the balcony and talked about the strangest things (like how Isa is able to tell your fortune on the basis of your favorite ice-cream and Nelli's experience with massaging old people).

At 11.30 we made our way to the river which was still fully packed with people. We still had some drinks left so we sat down on the damp grass and at noon Kata turned 20 (Grattis katchingaa!), so to celebrate we went to Yökerho. The line was super long but I spotted a few friends of ours so we just skipped the line a liiittle bit (woops, all th people behind us were really pissed, we came with like a group of 10 people and just cut everyone... sorry). In the club we danced and chatted with old friends and all in all had a really good time!

Yesterday after cleaning the house and making tacos with my little brother (side note: I wonder how he will ever survive without me, he didn't even know how to cut vegetables into cubes or how to make a dip.... I will have to teach him a lot of things before I move!), Ansku was kind enough to pick me up and drive me to my flat. My mission was to assemble the Ikea table I bought with my mom and after a few desperate sighs I finally got the table set up. Then I went to pick up our car and my little brother from the Inter game, went home, chilled and watched Geordie Shore for the rest of the night. Right now though I'm getting ready to go to my 2nd cousins confirmation party. I'm mostly looking forward to the food (and meeting my relatives, ofcourse!)

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

DIY for you jewelry

Lately I've formed a bit of an obsession with pinterest and I'm very eager to try all the cool DIY projects that can be found on the site. Usually though, you don't have the patience or the skills to actually make the projects like they appear in the instructions, but today I managed to actually do something that isn't half bad!

I have a lot of earrings and some bracelets and I always think it's a bummer that you never really get to show then off if your not wearing them So inspired by some of the stuff I've seen on pinterest I took a couple of picture frames we had laying around, some pieces of lace, fabric and copper wire and got to work.

For the bigger frame I just used a grey fabric that I glued to the backside of the picture frame. After letting the glue dry I attached the back cover of the frame and the earring frame was ready! The great thing with these are that you can hang them on the wall or just keep them on a table, but it's a fun and pretty way of showing off your jewelry - even when you're not wearing them!

I used lace strip in the smaller frame, and just as in the bigger one, I glued then to the back of the picture frame, let the glue dry and attached a sheer, plastic cover to the back (glass would be better, I reckon) and I even made a small detail our of copper wire saying earrings. Another thing I found on pinterest was that you could use a clear glass bottle as a wristband/armband stand. I actually ended up using a Snapple-bottle which I of course cleaned and made sure the label was off and then I just put my prettiest armbands around the bottle - voila, DIY for your jewelry that will cost you near to nothing!

Down by the Dock

Yesterday after suntanning I hopped in the shower (which I already mentioned), got ready and rode my bike to the city. Man it was hot outside, I was sweating like a pig when I finally arrived to my destination! Then I met up with Ella and we went to look at my apartment, because she wanted to see it. After our quick tour we headed towards the river, which was packed with people because of the annual DBTL music festival. We just sat and chatted until Cristel joined us and we had a couple of drinks at Aussie bar. All in all a very chill and nice evening!
Hehe, me and Ella even made a new friend, just love it how the man is looking at us confused when we're taking a picture. It's called a "selfie", sir!

Today I suntanned for a couple of hours (I just couldn't do 5 hours today like yesterday, besides, today I just laid on our backyard and there is 0 percent wind with all the trees surrounding the yard so it got way too hot, even too hot for me!), then I made some meat patties for lunch and cleaned my sofa! Now I'm just waiting for my dad and little brother to come home from swimming, so that I can hop in the shower and go to my apartment to begin the cleaning operation. Lots to do!
Perfection!

Five hours.

I just came back from Samppalinna, the outdoors public pool in the city center of Turku 1 hour ago- which means I was there for approximately five hours today sunbathing. Man it was hot, nearly 30 degrees Celsius! And they've promised the same kind of weather tomorrow so hopefully man tan will start to come along!

I've just taken a shower and had something to eat and now I'm planning on watching Geordie Shore and getting ready. I'm meeting up with my friends for a few drinks by the river. Gotta love summer in Finland!

(Almost) best thing about summer?

Sex and the City is on every night on tv. I could watch that show over and over again.

A turquoise thought

My mom is bringing me a couple of chairs from my grandma's, and even though they are quite nice just the way they are, I'm slightly obsessed with the idea of bright turquoise colored chairs. It would give the apartment a nice touch of color I think, but I'm not sure if I'll end up doing it. What do you think?

I've got the keys

First apartment selfie!

Today after work I went to the real-estate office to pick up my keys. The keys to my very first apartment. I was so eager I decided to go and check the place out at once. Here's just something to give you a visual of how it looks!

This is actually Essi's room, with the nice new floors. Unfortunately my "room/livingroom" area has a plastic rug so to speak, but hey, nothing a carpet can't fix!

Our kitchen is ridiculously small, it's basically like a little aisle between the rooms. I think it's quite cute and it's just enough for the two of us!

Once I got home I discovered that I had a H U G E mosquito bite on my boob! It's really itchy and it looks like a third nipple now... Great. Otherwise I'm enjoying my mini-vacation atm. I actually have the rest of the week off which means I'll have lots of time to organize, pack and clean but also time to enjoy the sunny weather. Tomorrow I'm meeting up with Emppu and Kata for some sunbathing, I'm almost ashamed to say that I haven't gone to the beach or the "pool" a single time this summer yet! That will change tomorrow though, I plan on getting a serious tan tomorrow!
Selfie a few days ago// Sorry for the flashy pic but I just had to show you my mosquito bite and how upset I am about it :(

Will you be the sprinkle to my ice-cream?

I had a longer shift at work today, and despite the nice and seriously hot weather outside, the place was swarming with people all day long. Which was fine, it made the day go faster anyways.

After work I met up with Cristel, Isa and Ella and chilled for a while (also had ice-cream with them as you can see in the picture), we discussed the upcoming weeks and how our tight group of friends is spreading across the globe. People moving to Vasa, Sweden and Norway. It's sad to think that some of my friends are no longer just a car ride away but that's life. I have to say that I'm extremely proud of all of them, they are making huge, scary but also exciting changes in their lives and I think that's great! Super excited for and proud of all of our achievements, go us!

I also got the news that I will be able to pick up the keys to mine and Essis apartment tomorrow! Finally I'll be able to show you some pictures and start preparing for our move in two weeks!

A+ daughter

I've been an A+ daughter today. My mom is attending a wedding and my dad is away with his team, so I'm the boss in the house. I did my mom's hair for the wedding, made dinner for not just my family but also the Nieminens who are staying here for the weekend. Then I drove my mom to the wedding and once I came home I cleaned the kitchen and chilled with the puppy. SEE MOM, I can live by myself. Jk, she knows I can ;)

Now I'm planning on just chilling for the rest of the night, I've promised to babysit the puppy but I might try to get her out for a walk. Julle is at her parents house which is like 5 mins from our place and so I'll attempt to get her to walk over there. I just know it will end with me carrying her all the way, we'll see how it goes!

This is my design

It's been a slow and mellow start to the week, yesterday I had a very short shift at work and afterwards I hung out with Julle and Nicola. I even bought two shirts and I am very proud of myself because those two shirts are actually the only pieces of clothing I have bought this whole summer! Can you believe it? I'm trying not to spend all too much money now that I'm moving in two weeks. I know, two weeks, that's cray cray!
One of my new shirts//Maya in my lap this morning, my little baby

Speaking of moving, I'm pretty much set with almost everything. I have my roomie Essi to thank for that as well, she's already been living on her own for about 6 months now so she already has all the essential kitchen appliances (microwave, coffee maker, toaster ect.) so that part is settled. I also got a small couch for only 20 e from Emppu's boyfriends parents which was totally awesome, and today me and my mom went to IKEA to buy a kitchen table and of course left with some other stuff as well (it's basically impossible to go to IKEA to get just one thing, it just doesn't happen!). So now I'm only waiting to get the keys so I can go ahead and start cleaning the apartment before the 1st when we're actually supposed to be moving in. Exciting!

I also thought I'd share some of my ideas for how the living room/my bedroom area will (hopefully) look like. Since it's a two bedroom apartment we have decided that I will be living in the bedroom, since I have more friends/relatives who live over here, so if they come for a visit and Essi doesn't feel like being social with them, she can just to her own room. The living room are is quite big however so I'm hoping I'll be able to separate the area in two by putting a shelf and my clothing rack as a kind of "wall" to make it two different spaces.
So my bedroom area will mostly be white but in the living room we have a grey couch, white table, some black-and-white and pink pillows, possibly a black and white carpet and I'm getting some chairs from my grandma which we will probably paint a light grey color. The picture below will give you an idea of the color theme and style I'm thinking of!
I actually have a golden framed mirror so that would look pretty cool, the pillows on the left I also have and the rug on the left I'm thinking of buying. On the top left you can see an example of using a shelf to separate the room.

R U I S R O C K 2 O 1 4

On Friday I woke up full of excitement because I knew it was the weekend I most look forward to in the whole year --> R U I S R O C K! I was even more excited because my future roomie and first time festival goer Essi was gonna spend the whole weekend with me and my friends. So we got ourselves ready, waited for Emppu and Isa to arrived, jumped on our bikes and headed towards Ruissalo. The weather couldn't have been more perfect either. We stopped in the forest on the way there to just have a few ciders and chat to some strangers so we were in pretty late, at 7 I think. We watched some artists, met new people and somewhere along the way lost each other but once David Guetta had stopped playing we found each other again, only to lose one another again! I was a bit worried 'cause I knew Essi didn't know the way back to our place but after finally getting a hold of a phone (my battery was conveniently dead) she found her way to us (she had managed to go to the opposite direction of where we were heading so I'm glad we found her!) Finding everybody in the pack took a very long time so I think it was 4.30 when we finally got home and went straight to bed!

Saturday started with a brunch with mimosas, croissants, eggs & bacon, fruits and pancakes and I have to say I was feeling pretty beat from the night before but I didn't let that stop me. Off we where again, this time to see Veronica Maggio (amazing as always), Studio Killers first live performance (a bit of a let down, actually) and Lily Allen (surprisingly good!), Ansku and Isa did the unthinkable and went bungee-jumping, some sumo-wrestling, chilling, laughing, noodles... Ah I wish rusirock was every weekend. Then again I don't 'cause I would probably die out of exhaustiveness. So all in all, amazing once again. If you have never been, you HAVE TO come next year 'cause Rusirock is never a let down.

Okay.

I feel like my every post so far this summer has started off with an apology so sorry not sorry, I've been very busy (most of the time at least) and I've tried to enjoy my summer as much as possible (considering last summer I only had ONE weekend off the whole summer, how insane is that?!) and I have to say I've had 3 very fun weekends behind me which I will tell you all about now!

So 3 weeks back before the ruisrock weekend I...

I also spent a lot of quality time with Maya. I'll probably miss her the most when I move (jk, I'll miss my whole family ofcourse but she's just so darn cute!)

I'll tell you about Ruisrock in a separate post so just pretend this week didn't happen yet...

And this week I've basically been working, on Friday I went to Sofies to chill which was fun and yesterday we went to see The Fault in Our Stars which was great, although the timing was terrible, since we were planning on going to the riverboats afterwards and of course nearly all of us were crying and looked terrible afterwards! But we managed to get a grip of ourselves and had a absolutely amazingly fun time yesterday at Aussie bar. I did not have a single dull moment which was great!
Happy campers in Aussie bar :)

It's here

The best weekend of the summer. Sorry for the hiatus btw. Hopefully this weekend will be L e g e n d a r y so I have something to blog about. lol.
