My blog has really been quite boring so far this summer, I am very sorry. There's not a lot exciting going on right now. Well, except for a couple of things...

First of all, I have the Ruisrock weekend off which means I will continue my tradition and attend the festival for the fifth time! Essi is also joining and most of my friends are going so I'm really looking forward to it. Besides, Studio Killers is having their first live performance E V E R ! How cool is that!?
Last Ruisrock XD
AND the bigger announcement... ME AND ESSI GOT A PLACE! Last week I got a call and they told us we would get a place right in the center of the city. I'm so excited! Just a month until it's D-Day and tomorrow I'm meeting up with the owner to sign the contract. I will tell you more when It's all set in stone and I actually have the keys in my hand, promise!

I've never really celebrated Midsummer or Juhannus as it is called in Finnish since I've either been so young so I've just hung out with my family and our family-friends, or I've been working. So it's never been like a big special event that I've been looking forward to for months. This year I wasn't working and I didn't really have any plans so I decided to go to Julle's summer villa and spend midsummer over there. It was a typical, chilled midsummer; eating good food, going to the sauna, swimming (or more like a dip) in the ocean (it was cold), playing cards, burning the kokko, making flowerbands... It was nice, I haven't been to their summer villa in like 5 years so it was about time!

Big changes

So far this week I've basically been working. On Monday the place was still "under construction" but on Tuesday we opened the place up and to top it off, all the Arnold's shops in Finland gave out free cronutz, which is a combination of a donuts and a croissant. Yeah, you don't even want to know how many calories that is!
The other exciting thing that has been going on is that I'm looking for an apartment! That's what me and Essi were discussing the two days she was here, and we even went to some open houses. I'm constantly online trying to find apartments to rent  so hopefully something affordable and not too shabby will come along the way soon!
Dis is my prents... hahah JK my mom probably wishes I'd live at home F O R E V E R :D

Last night after waking up and playing with the puppy me and Essi met up with our friends in Naantali to have lunch at Uusi Kilta. The food was good but it took forever to get the food to our table, however they offered us free ice-cream as an "apology" which was nice!

The afternoon was super hectic, after lunch I hurried to the store, back home to change my clothes, then I had to return the DVD me and Essi rented, we dropped off Essi at the bus station, drove to julle's, got ready and then finally started making our way to Meri's place in Hirvensalo. O M G the place was absolutely beautiful, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures! After chatting with her classmates who had come to visit from Sweden, we made our way to Aussie bar and then to the Monkey. It was a pretty successful night, nothing special but not boring either.
The movie we rented

Three Amigos

Castle Campbell

One of the afternoon trips we had in Scotland was to the Dollar Glen and Campbell castle (also to Stirling but since we decided not to take the tour in Stirling castle, we just went there for lunch. It was actually nice, it was the first time I had a proper healthy salad without mayo in it and it tasted heavenly!). This trip was one of my favorite experiences, it was so beautiful hiking up to the castle and the view was spectacular! It was like a whole different world, like straight out of some mysterious jungle. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

First week of summer

It sure feels like it! I can't believe next weekend it's already midsummer! Just thought I'd make a quick post of the things I've been up to this week!

Sushi for lunch and the adorable Maya!

Dinner at Pub Niska with my girlies

I made a rhubarb pie and it was delicious!

And a fun (and very random) night with the girls. Margaritas, a dance battle and high heels.

So I've had a lot of stuff on my plate. Right now I'm hanging with Essi who is here for the weekend and we've been up to some very exciting things. But more about that later!

Theater & Rain

During our 3 week course in Edinburgh, the University took us on some visits. I had chosen a History-walk and a Theater visit, which were very interesting. But after hearing that some of the people had gotten the chance to experience a murder trial I was wishing I had chosen that visit instead. Anyways, the History-walk took us around Edinburgh old town and showed us all the historical spots. The tour ended in a 18th century house where we saw how the people of that time lived and even got to play dress up.

During the tour of the Festival Theater we got to go backstage, on the stage and even hear about the ghosts in the theater, which was a bit spooky.

We even got the opportunity to see a Shakespeare play A Comedy of Errors. It was performed outside and as usual, it was pouring rain outside. And it was cold. So we were all pretty miserable, so after half time me and some others just went to the buss to get away from the cold and the wet.  I felt bad for the actors, you could see they were freezing!

Maya Joyful

Nice to see that the statistics went up as soon as I started posting again! Anyways, I thought I'd do a normal post before I continue with talking about Scotland! As I briefly mentioned, we are now a dog-owning family! For the past few months my dad and brother have had a crazy dog fever, but my mom has never really been a dog person so we haven't even thought about getting one. I like dogs but since I'll be moving out after the summer it wouldn't really matter whether we got one or not, I still wouldn't be living here for much longer.

Two weeks ago my mom called and said that they had bought a puppy! It's a Gordon setter called Maya Joyful, and she is the cutest thing I have ever seen. She's very smart, playful but likes to sleep a lot. And we have the same birthday! Since they're still doing construction at my workplace I have the whole week off which is good, I can stay at home and take care of her. It's been going pretty well, she's settling in really well. And she's just so darn cute!

Our classes, which we're all about Scottish history or culture, started on Monday. We got to learn things about the school system, politics, traditional music, youth culture and literature. Classes started 9.30 and ended 12.30, so after that we where free to do whatever we wanted (we did have a few afternoon/evening things scheduled). That first day the weather was wonderful and sunny, so we all went to the Meadows, a park near to the University campus to sit, chat and drink.

ps. not all of the pictures are mine, I've stolen some from my classmates. Hope they don't mind! x

Actually, before we went to the meadows I think we went on a small bus tour around the city and to Arthur's seat, the large hill's which overlook the city. Man it was beautiful, you could see the whole city from up there! Here are some pics of the places we saw, not only during the bus tour but we pretty much walked these streets everyday for 3 weeks!)

Grassmarket, a place where public executions were held. Today it mostly consists of pubs and restaurants, luckily!

On Monday we also attended a pub quiz at No 1 High Street. We were fourth I think, which was really good since the questions were pretty hard!
