April, my month

Back to reality, I guess.

It's been a pretty chill day, but I was definitely still pretty beat from the weekend. As the days get warmer and sunnier I dream of summer. It's a good thing that my last period of the first year in Uni is very relaxed, I'm definitely not as motivated now that summer is only a few odd months away!
Tomorrow is the beginning of a new month and April Fool's Day! You have any good pranks on mind? Last year I did fool quite many with a prank on my blog, I told you all that I had gotten in a bitch fight at the club and got kicked out! This year I probably won't even be able to fool anybody now that I've already brought it up. I'm more excited about my birthday which is in just over 2 weeks!

Pampas Nationaldag 2O14

It's been a long weekend so this post will be pretty long as well! You might also want to listen to the song below, it was definitely the song of the weekend!

For those of you who don't even know what Pampas Nationaldag is, it's basically an annual event for Swedish-speaking students. Every year about 2000 students from all over Finland travel to Vasa to spend a weekend in their overalls. So basically a huge party is what it is.

So this year we decided we would all go there together since Kata is living and studying over there. On Thursday we squeezed ourselves into Ansku's Red Devil, it was amazing that we managed to fit 5 girls and all of our bags in that little car! After a little adventure in Pori and driving for 5 hours we finally arrived. It was already 9 o'clock so we decided to just stay at Kata's and watch Titanic.
Me and Emppu decided it was time to get a head start and have our first cider at the terrace of Fontana!

On Friday we woke up at 9 to get ourselves ready for Olympiaden or the Olympic games. Basically there were different teams doing challenges and competing, music playing and the crowd cheering. For 4 hours we stood, cheered, drank and danced. At 3 we walked back home to Kata's to make lunch and get ready for the evening party at Rewell center.
"But first, let me take a selfie"//It's 5 o'clock somewhere!

Hehe, I apologize for these pictures but I thought they represent pretty well how we felt after Olympiaden...
The night party was held in a shopping mall and I thought that was really well organized (one minus goes for not having enough bathrooms!!) and you had several different bars you could go to. We mostly stuck to Amarillo and Sky bar which was up on the 9th floor and had a view over the city! So cool. We even managed to hear the only song we knew from the artist of the night, Dr. Bombay. Caaalcuttaaa, I am a taxi driverin... Yup, apparently he has nothing better to do these days than to perform at Pampas. At three we decided that after basically partying since 11 o'clock it was time to go home.
Pretty gurlz

Not so pretty gurlz

I cannot get over this picture. LOOK AT ISAS POSE?? WHAT IS THAT? I would really like to know what she was thinking of doing that pose, she looks like a weird anime jpop star doing a duckface XD It became our thing to try and do the 'Isa-pose' for the rest of the trip!

DAY TWO! We woke up not feeling too well but there was no point in sulking, it was time to get ready at get to the Sillis. We went there with one of the first buses available and the place was already packed once we were inside, so we just had some breakfast and one drink and made our way back to Vasa center. Quick stop by McDonalds and it was on to the legendary Oliver's Inn or Ollis. I have to say that was one of the best parts of the whole trip. It was a great afternoon party, people were dancing on tables and the music was awesome, man that was fun! Sadly, we had to leave after a few hours since they closed the bar for an hour to clean the place up before re-opening it in the evening. We knew it was gonna be packed later and saw that some started queuing to get in at 4, two hours before re-opening it! But we were all super tired and needed a small break so we went to Kata's to take a nap.

Isa pose

As we were getting ready for our last night it became clear to us that we wouldn't get into Ollis, it was only 7 o'clock and rumor was that the place was packed. But we took our sweet time getting ready and went to a place called Fontana instead. It was really big and really cool and had the best coat-service people ever!! We stayed for a few hours but eventually went home pretty early. We had already been out and about for two days straight and were planning on leaving asap on Sunday. But I definitely had a blast and I am also planning on attending next year!

Gotta love some of the pictures I find on my camera...

One more 'Isa-pose' group picture!

Ollis, we're coming back for you soon!

And here's how we all feel right now, it's good to come home, sleep in your own bed and eat something else than toast!

Tomato Soup recipe

It's been a long but a pretty productive day. I woke up, did some homework, made delicious lunch which I will tell you more about soon, downloaded some music and made my way to work. Work was good, it was a pretty quiet day so I got everything done in good time. Plus I got some praise from my co-workers saying that they think I've really gotten the hang of things quickly, and that's always nice to hear! Got home and started packing, which I should've done earlier... well it took me a while but now I should have everything and I'm ready to spend an awesome weekend in Vasa!

Right, lunch. So we didn't really have anything in our fridge today and I wasn't feeling too hungry but I still had to eat something before work so I decided to make tomato soup and it turned out great! I used 1 can of pureed tomato, 3 dl water, 1 shopped onion, 3 garlic cloves, 1 diced tomato, ketchup, paprika spice, salt & pepper, threw it all in a pot and let it cook in low heat for about 20-30 minutes. Voila, easy and delicious!

Yay, I have time to post something! I didn't think I was going to have because I have a lot of homework and work and school and... well, it's been a busy week!
Right now I'm working on my pedagogical course assignment. It is about media, how it should be used in school and how it affects the pupils. There's a lot of work to this course but I find it very interesting, especially since we live in a time and place where media and social networking is such a big part of our everyday lives. It's really interesting to compare how media, the internet and social networking has changed in the last 10 year. I remember having to dial-up to the internet which took f o r e v e r, playing Tetris and Sonic the Hedgehog on SEGA, going to this site called The talking head or something like that, and you would type something in a box and it would say it in a Donald Duck voice, anyone remember that? And in school we basically just learnt to use Word and Paint in computer class...

Remember this sound? Hahah, fun stuff! Anyways, I'm just gonna make some lunch and download some music before going to work! Then I have to pack because I'm l´going to Vasa for the weekend which I am very very very excited about. I am also very very very late in packing so I hope I get it done tonight!

BTW my friend Emilia has started blogging! Check her blog out by clicking the link

It's official

What is official you say? Spring is here, that's what! Feels amazing, must be one of the best feelings in the world! You really can't appreciate it 100 % until you've lived as far up north as I do...

I don't really have anything special going on today, I've just been chilling after school trying to do some homework. I have practice later on though which will be fun, been doing way much laying around this weekend (Ok I did work for 2 days straight so that was doing something but still!), I have to confess that I didn't change out of my pajamas last night, I just wore them all day. But sometimes you have to do that on a Sunday!

I should warn you that there will probably not be a lot of blogging this week since I'm working Tuesday and Wednesday night and on Thursday after school I'm heading straight to Vasa where I'll be spending the whole weekend. So not a whole lot of time to do anything extra this week....

Here are a few snapshots from my instagram!
Tulips are the prettiest flowers!
It was warm enough for me to sit outside and read my homework. A blanket, chai latte and a book... very cozy!

Ps. I really really want a system camera, I miss taking good quality pictures. Mine is broken and I'm turning 20 in a month, anybody wanna buy me one? It would be much appreciated!

Ice-cream & twerking

My blogging has been sucky for the last couple of weeks but I actually have a lot going on and no time! I'm sorry, I will try to post more often (try). But here's a recap of what I have done!

On Wednesday I had a day off, initially I was going to work but I changed my shift with one of the workers so I had nothing all day, which was heaven! I met up with julle and emppu and just hung out, talked about how hard it is to be a woman (hahah lol) and after feeling sorry for ourselves we decided ice-cream would be the perfect thing to treat ourselves. If ever you're in Turku (especially in the summer) Nuvole Gelateria is the place to visit and have ice-cream. Seriously delicious, and they have really cool flavors to pick from. I tried lemon pie and I could probably say that it's one of the best ice-creams I have ever had in my life. SO GO THERE!
Also we tried to take some outfit pictures but I don't feel very natural in front of the camera (unless I'm taking a selfies XD) but here are some of the pics. I would say Emppu turned out to be a better poser!

On Thursday I stayed at the Uni after our lectures were done to work on some assignments. One of them was to grade English tests which was definitely harder than you'd think. But I had some of my classmates with me and we all helped each other which was nice. I got home and did more school stuff which wasn't that nice and that was basically my Thursday.
Friday I went to work but afterwards I met up with my classmates at Nora's and we chilled, played board games and jammed which was super nice. Afterwards we even went to Koulu for a while but I had to leave 30 minutes after getting there to catch my buss. But I actually had a lot of fun and it was just nice to have a really relaxing evening. Hope to do it again sometime soon!
Today I worked again and oh boy what a long day it has been. There is this event thingy happening in Hansa where I work and it's a Saturday, which meant a lot of people and a lot of customers, which meant cleaning up after closing took me 45 minutes longer than it should. I was exhausted when I finally was finished, and it felt extremely good to come home, sit down and eat! My mom also had some friends over so I just sat and chatted with them for the rest of the evening. I have to say that it was pretty amusing watching them trying to twerk? Unfortunately I have no photogenic evidence.

Phew. Long post. Goodnight!

The best feelings in the world

When a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders
The first bite when you're super hungry
First cup of coffee in the morning
That feeling after a good work out
Crawling into a freshly made bed
Binge-watching a show on netflix when you feel like just laying in bed
Seeing the sun for the first time after a long, cold winter
Looking at old pictures
Laughing 'till you cry
Those rare crazy and wild nights out with your friends
Remembering the lyrics or finding out the title to that song that has been playing in your head for a week
Knowing you have someone you can always talk to no matter what it is

My weekend

Is it really monday again? Time goes by so fast these days! Anyways, my weekend was quite eventful, like I said I went to my class mates Elin's housewarming party. It was really nice, we stayed at her place until two o'clock (don't know why we left so late but somehow time just went by very fast) and made our way to Klubi. Klubi was well, eh, different. But to my understanding there was some special event and just as we got there they changed DJ's so he played like dubstep for the rest of the night, which isn't something I'm that keen on dancing to. But we did dance for an hour or so and then I went home with a cab.
Nicola & Johanna//Me

On Sunday my cousin who is turning 20 next week had a little birthday coffee & cake celebration so we stopped by her place. Her dog Luna was there to entertain the guests, she's seriously the smallest dog I've ever seen! After the 'party' I just went home and chilled with my parents and Emppu for the rest of the day. One cool thing that happened was that my dad found me cool "crown" made out of ice on our yard. I mean, it's like straight out of frozen, isn't it?

Out with the study-buddies

Blää, they were talking about it in the news but I didn't want to believe it, but now it has happened... there is snow on the ground again. Just when it was starting to get so nice, it really felt like spring! Yesterday I wore my leather jacket and today I had to put on my winter coat. Which sucks.

Today I've been out and about, at first I met up with the girls. Meri had just come to visit from Sweden and Sofie was back from South Africa so we got together for the first time in a long time! It was nice to see them both and to hear what they have been doing in the past couple of months. Then I went to mylly to get some presents, saw the last 10 minutes of my brother's soccer game and now I'm getting ready for tonight. Elin is having a housewarming party, I'm excited because I haven't gone out with my study-buddies (lol) in a long time!
Sucks to live here sometimes...

That awkward moment

Just came home from the movies. At first I was like naaaah but then I was like hmmmm and lulz and in the end it was actually pretty funny.
I mean, Zac Efron, Ben & Jerry's & alcohol sounds like a pretty good mix to me!

Alright, sleep tight!
Zac efron

Route 66

This weather is seriously making me happy!

Not much has happened since I last posted, yesterday I had a full day with school and then straight to work from there. And work has been going fine, I consider myself a quite quick learner so I think I've managed to get the hang of most things!
Today is one of those rare days when I have absolutely no plans (can it be??) so after school I've chilled at home and later I'm meeting my friends. We're going to go see that new Zac Efron movie, The awkward moment, yeah I don't know much about except that Zefron is in it and there's a viagra scene? It'll be interesting.

Btw, today in class our teacher asked us a question and I answered it correctly so she gave me a key-chain? I thought that was pretty cool!

Pampas, here we come!

It's been a long long but eventful morning and afternoon. Me and my friends have long ago decided that this year we would all be going to Pampas Nationaldag which is a big student event held in Vasa in a few weeks, not just because we would finally get to do something together but also because we all want to visit Kata and her flat (and I'm actually gonna "have to" live in Vasa for a couple of months at some point of my studies, 'cause I have some courses over there). Today they started selling the tickets and we were pretty nervous about not being able to get them them, since we heard people usually start queuing 4 hours before the ticket sales start. We came up with a plan and went to stand in line at 9, already by then there was about 30 people before us. It was rumored that they would only sell 100 tickets in Åbo so we had Kata on the line, who was queuing in Vasa. The problem was that one person could buy a maximum of 5 tickets, which meant that if everybody in front of us bought 5 tickets. we wouldn't get any!
But we stood in line, I went on one of my lectures and came back. When the ticket sales finally began it was pretty clear that they had more than 100 tickets. Eventually, Kata ended up buying all of our tickets (we could've bought them ourselves but her queue in Vasa was faster) so now we're all happy!
Afterwards me and Emppu had Indian food for lunch and I've just finished my homework which means chill for the rest of the evening before my practice starts! YEY!

Standing in line isn't fun... but with great company it is!

Lunch//Tickets! Very Excited!

Living in ruins of the palace within my dreams

Merry Monday! I can't believe my last period in Uni has begun! I excited but at the same time I'm wondering where this year has gone?! I feel like it was just a month ago when I was so nervous about my first day and how University would differ from High School and how my classmates would be.
The exciting thing about this period is that me and my classmates are going to Edinburgh for 3 weeks! I'm super super excited about that, when we heard about the trip in the beginning of the year we couldn't believe we would actually get to go (plus our department will pay for the flights and staying there which is reaaally nice). Yup, can't wait for May to come!
Flowers I got from my dad om International Women's Day//Me today

You've probably already seen the vidoe of the Finnish girl speaking jibberish in different languages (She's from Jakobstad btw, that's my mom's hometown!) and now she's released a video where she sings different genres... Wow, she's pretty, funny and talented!

We won our game yesterday, Horray! Man it felt good to win, especially since we played against just that team it felt extra good. I don't usually have any pictures from our games but here are a few! They're not the best quality but you get the point. Can you spot me? Hint: I'm number 11....

After the game (and a shower) I met up with my girls in town and from there we drove to Cristel's to watch Melodifestivalen. Cristel's mom had made the best carrot soup I've ever tasted. As for the winner of Mello, well, she was good but not my favorite. But yeah, all in all really good night. And the weather was so nice, and it still is. I love it when the sun is shining! Now, however I have to focus on the pile of schoolstuff I have to finish today! Yikes, better get too it.
